Our
Church
Story

We started with eight adults, eleven kids, and a borrowed fellowship hall — and a conviction that Richardson needed a church that would love it before it ever attended anything. Six years later that conviction shapes everything we do, from Sunday worship to Tuesday nights downtown.

OUR BELIEFS:

  • In the Essential beliefs we have unity.
  • In the Non-essential beliefs we have liberty.
  • In all our beliefs we maintain an attitude of love.

Frequently Asked Questions

Becoming a Christian is beautifully simple: admit that we all fall short, believe that Jesus died and rose to forgive and restore you, and confess Him as Lord of your life. If you are ready, pray that honestly today — then tell us, so we can celebrate with you and walk with you into baptism and community.

Absolutely — baptism Sundays are some of our favorite days of the year. If you have put your trust in Jesus, our pastors would love to baptize you at an upcoming service. Sign up on the Events page or stop by the welcome table, and we will walk you through every step.

We believe men and women are equally created in God's image, equally gifted by the Spirit, and equally called to minister. Women teach, lead teams, pastor, and serve at every level of Lanternfield — because the mission is too big for half the church to sit out.

Yes — Lanternfield Kids serves newborns through fifth grade every Sunday with worship, teaching, and small groups. Every volunteer is background-checked, every room follows our two-adult rule, and secure check-in means only you can pick up your child.

We never want a guest to feel like a target, so we don't pass a plate. Giving boxes and online giving are available for members who call Lanternfield home — generosity is worship for the family, never pressure for the visitor.

Testimonials

Couple forming a heart with their hands at sunset

We walked in carrying a marriage that felt finished. Nobody stared, nobody judged — people just circled us with meals, prayer, and patience. A year later we renewed our vows on that same stage. Lanternfield didn't just save our Sunday; it helped save our family.

MARCUS & ELENA WHITFIELD

After my husband passed, I stopped going anywhere — including church. A neighbor dragged me to Women's Night and I cried through half of it. The grief group that followed gave me language for my loss and friends for my life. I found hope here before I even knew I was looking.

Celebrate Recovery gave me back my name. I came in chained to habits I couldn't break and found men who told the truth and kept my secrets. Two years sober, baptized last Easter, and now I get to meet other guys at the west doors on Mondays. It's okay to not be okay — this church proved it.
